Though their music draws comparisons to the likes of Bob Dylan and the Violent Femmes, Ezra Furman & the Harpoons take their brand of folk rock to an edgier arena where kinetic, catchy rhythms and stumbling lyrics are the fresh, spirited results of being young, restless and alive. Last October, they released their second album, Inside the Human Body, which Paste called “overwrought, goofy, achingly sincere, and totally original.” Frontman Ezra Furman takes playful lyrics through undulating pitches and cracking falsettos. In the song “Take Off Your Sunglasses,”Furman rambles on and on in an argument against removing his eyewear. And why should he? With a future as bright as his, let the man wear his damn shades!
See them jam at Metronome Celebration this weekend!
