After touring the country and racking up some excellent press and radio airplay, Great Divide and Cobalt & the Hired Guns are happy to announce that they will be joining Sexfist for a very special kick-off to the second annual Chicago Bluegrass & Blues Festival (www.cbbfestival.com).
Sexfist has taken Chicago by storm, amazing audiences with their high-energy, hard-driving picking and angelic harmony singing, and sidling up alongside Cornmeal as Chicago’s most popular bluegrass act. They recently shared “Last Banjo Standing” honors with Great Divide, becoming the 24th and 25th bands to join the bill.
Jambase calls Ann Arbor, Michigan’s Great Divide a band that excels at “…setting the tone for the night, with tight, soulful horns, keys and a great jazz guitar bass combo…sophisticated talent…”
Friends since they were just little buckaroos, the boys of Cobalt & the Hired Guns arrived on the Chicago scene in 2008. That year’s Jump the Fence saw the band getting serious about art and environmentalism–the album was a carbon neutral project–and the new “double single” (“You left your sweater” b/w “Of Summer”) aims for the rafters with a one two punch of boot-stompin’, tambourine-shakin’ cow punk! Cobalt & the Hired Guns have shared the stage with the likes of Dashboard Confessional, Ha Ha Tonka and The Avett Brothers and are proud to add Great Divide and Sexfist to the list.
