Chicago, IL – November 30, 2009. After touring the country and racking up some excellent press and radio airplay, Great Divide and Cobalt & the Hired Guns are happy to announce that they will be joining Sexfist for a very special kick-off to the second annual Chicago Bluegrass & Blues Festival (www.cbbfestival.com).

Sexfist has taken Chicago by storm, amazing audiences with their high-energy, hard-driving picking and angelic harmony singing, and sidling up alongside Cornmeal as Chicago’s most popular bluegrass act.  They recently shared “Last Banjo Standing” honors with Great Divide, becoming the 24th and 25th bands to join the bill.

Jambase calls Ann Arbor, Michigan’s Great Divide a band that excels at “…setting the tone for the night, with tight, soulful horns, keys and a great jazz guitar bass combo…sophisticated talent…”

Friends since they were just little buckaroos, the boys of Cobalt & the Hired Guns arrived on the Chicago scene in 2008. That year’s Jump the Fence saw the band getting serious about art and environmentalism–the album was a carbon neutral project–and the new “double single” (”You left your sweater” b/w “Of Summer”) aims for the rafters with a one two punch of boot-stompin’, tambourine-shakin’ cow punk! Cobalt & the Hired Guns have shared the stage with the likes of Dashboard Confessional, Ha Ha Tonka and The Avett Brothers and are proud to add Great Divide and Sexfist to the list.

Vittles come courtesy of Gold N’ Pear, the celebrated catering company run by nationally-published food writer Nancy Backas and Terry Feingold (aka “Dr. Soup”).  Purchase tickets here to enjoy the spoils! (http://www.clubtix.net/ql.php?a=O&e=8754491074a70d357b96f9&p=12184991904b02cb85d7869)

Be sure to set your alarms to get up early on Saturday, Dec. 12. Start off a full day of music and fun with Cobalt & the Hired Guns, Great Divide and “Break-fist with Sexfist.” For more on Gold N’ Pear and the bands, check out:

Tourcast.tv will be providing a live video and audio feed from the Main Stage area and the Pavilion stage throughout the entire duration of the Chicago Bluegrass and Blues Festival. This is an awesome addition to an already wonderful festival.

People who already have tickets: Now you can let your friends from around the country and world know they can watch the show that you will be attending! Go ahead and make them jealous, they will appreciate the good music anyway. And know that there will be a recording of the experience for you to have later.

People who cannot attend the show: We are aware not everyone who would like to attend this festival actually lives in Chicago. We don’t want to exclude you guys! So be sure you watch, because its still winter for you also and who couldn’t use a festival right now?

People who live in Chicago but are not going to the show: Don’t be a weirdo, get your tickets, its only $1.40 a band and the next festival is when? June or something? Okay, but even if you insist not on going, we still got love for you, we invite you to watch what you are missing.

To watch you can go to WWW.TOURCAST.TV or you can watch the video screens provided beneath the schedules.

So there are many reason that The Chicago Bluegrass and Blues Festival is a unique experience worth any Chicago music fan’s attention. We know that it has Béla Fleck & Dr. Dog, and that is Chicago’s only winter music festival (and the nation’s largest). But there may be some aspects that you don’t know, and they are listed below. What you will find is that the CBB Festival, at heart, is a festival put on for music-festival lovers by music-festival lovers. We don’t just want to put bands on a couple stages and call it a day, we want to make it a one-stop, comprehensive, music-festival experience. Indoors… in the winter. Don’t believe me? Well… just read about the 10 bonuses for CBB Festival goers below; and trust me, you will be surprised.

1. There is unlimited re-entry until 6pm, and as long as you leave the building before then, you can come back in whenever! We don’t want to tell you you have to eat and drink here, so feel free to move freely in and out until evening time. Check out other FAQs here: http://cbbfestival.com/about/

2. There’s somewhere to smoke without leaving venue & going out in the cold. We don’t judge, we know that to be trapped inside all day long is not appealing to out friends who enjoy nicotine from time to time. Thats why we will provide an on-site smoking section, it will still be quasi-outdoors, but totally within the festival’s confines.

3. KIDS 12&UNDER ARE FREE. Yeah that’s right, you read that correctly. We feel for our brethren who feel like they can’t go to a festival because they have little ones and either don’t want to leave them along, or feel that buying them a ticket is a waste of money. Fear no more, we got you on this one, any kid under 12 will be admitted free of charge.

4. Buy a ticket and a holiday gift with one purchase, thanks to Bike and Roll’s Green Pass package. By purchasing a ticket through this link, and adding on a “Bike and Roll GREEN PASS” entitles the purchaser to a half-day bicycle rental for 2 people at any of their 9 locations around Chicago. Representing a 64% discount off the normal Bike and Roll price ($70), and printed by the city’s only green certified printer on recycled paper using soy inks, this is a great “green” gift for yourself or a friend. The Green Pass expires 12/31/10. To purchase or learn more click here.

5. Just to give you an idea of what this year has in store, and to get you excited about this year’s festival, we’ve released a preview footage of our soon to be released concert film “Windy City Dawg – David Grisman & Friends @ the Chicago Bluegrass & Blues Fest” – View it here.

6. You will be able to eat great food at the festival. Browns Restaurant (formerly Browns Chicken) is our exclusive food sponsor, and will be offering up deliciousness; including Hot Dogs, Polish Sausage, Nachos, Browns’ Famous Mushroom, and Chicken Wings.

7. We will even be providing live video/audio of the stages! This festival is about sharing good music, even to those who haven’t paid to get in. Preview the action and learn more at http://www.tourcast.tv/.

8. There will be a pre-party the Thursday before the festival.. On December 10 five bands will take the stage at Elbo Room, hosting an evening of Chicago’s best Rock-Folk musicians.
